Federal RNG ITC overview Firstly, CGA recognizes that Finance Canada has demonstrated an understanding of the value of RNG by including it in the clean hydrogen ITC, where the RNG is used to produce hydrogen, and in the biomass ITC if the RNG is produced and used onsite at the industry facility. [...] The basic components of an RNG systems include anaerobic digestors (tanks), materials processing equipment (the facility that sorts, de-packages, and creates the slurry for the digestor), biogas upgrading equipment to purify the biogas to pipeline quality RNG, and injection and metering stations to calculate the volumes for billing and pipeline infrastructure to connect the RNG from the production. [...] The amount of $124.5 million includes: the construction of the biomethanation center for $98.5 million and the implementation of the food waste collection program for $26 million. [...] Construction of the facility will begin in the spring of 2020, with the plant to be commissioned in the fall of 2020. [...] The intent of the project is to upgrade the landfill gas being produced from the municipal solid waste commission and tie-in to the local natural gas distribution system in New Brunswick.
