As a Planning Engineer who is the climate- and hydrology-focused specialist with the team, you will use and develop your climate science and hydrotechnical skills by leading and participating in a wide variety of projects which support river flood resilience, potable water supply, wastewater and stormwater lines of service, as well as climate adaptation and environmental performance objectives. [...] Primary duties include: • Lead studies and data review to refine river and watershed climate projections, including liaising and/or managing projects with researchers and/or consultants on current data, modelling and methodologies applicable for our region to determine potential changes to the seasonality, magnitude and frequencies of low and high flows in Calgary’s rivers and creeks. [...] • Create and share study findings and key messages with city staff, project teams and the public. [...] • Participate in the River Forecaster-on-Duty rotation to monitor watershed and river conditions for flood, drought and ice jam risks, and participate in annual flood response preparations and emergency planning and response activities. [...] Qualifications • A degree in Civil, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering or a related Engineering field, registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada, and current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or licensure by the first day of work.
