Jon McGavock and Manitoba schools to participate in a research opportunity to monitor the impacts of a knowledge to action (KTA) process on school health policies and programming. [...] SACK STEERING COMMITTEE The CSHR group invited key stakeholders including researchers, community partners, school representatives, and government partners to join the SACK steering committee to assist in the development of best practice school plans and activities, and to offer additional support to school teams. [...] THE CSHR GROUP KNOWLEDGE TO ACTION PROCESS The SACK knowledge to action process is based on a cyclical approach to understanding school health data and its translation into meaningful change within a school environment. [...] When school teams were identifying their priorities, and tailoring and implementing their health projects and activities, the CSHR group urged teams to think comprehensively about this framework in order to create meaningful and effective school health plans and activities. [...] In the early stages of the project (before the first school action team meeting), three schools opted out of the research project; in all three cases, school principals had initially signed on to the project for the benefit of the school community, but could not find a staff person to lead initiatives.
