This report provides an overview of the key findings and lessons learned from the COMFIT program review that led to the decision to end the program. [...] The intent was to bring online 100 megawatts (MW) of renewable electricity connected to the grid at the distribution level. [...] The purpose of the COMFIT program was to encourage and support the development of renewable electricity projects by community-based groups including municipalities, First Nations, co-operatives, and not-for-profit groups COMFIT Review January to July 2015. [...] The primary goal of the program was to produce 50 MW of renewable energy in Nova Scotia by 2015, with the ultimate aim of 100 MW of COMFIT electricity. [...] The department began assessing the overall impacts of the program in the fall of 2014 following the results of an administrative review.
