"Our goals in this project were (1) to assess the current state of knowledge about family's perceptions about the use of drugs in LTC facilities using a scoping study of the literature to identify relevant research and (2) to obtain these perceptions directly through an online survey directed at family members of those currently in long-term care placements in Canada. We expected that the information from both would then serve as a basis for developing appropriate recommendations with regard to medicine use among/for seniors in care. Because the use of psychotropic medications in LTC facilities had already raised concerns reported in the literature, we also focused on this group of drugs"--Page 3.
