Moving the healthy eating and active living strategy forward in Ontario

The report describes the collective thinking of Forum participants, based on discussions with tobacco field experts on the success of the Smoke Free Ontario Strategy, and builds on the knowledge from key informants within the areas of healthy eating and physical activity. [...] For the summary on success behind the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy and learnings from the Smoke Free Ontario Strategy that could be applied to the area of healthy eating and active living at the system level, please see “Preliminary Report for HEAL Forum Discussion” in the appendix section. [...] This report is intended to generate and facilitate dialogue between staff working in tobacco control and staff working in the areas of healthy eating and active living on the priorities for action which need to take place in order to move the HEAL strategy forward, based on the success behind the Smoke Free Ontario Strategy. [...] Furthermore, the preliminary report described the roles in which the government, HEAL-related organizations (organizations whose work relates to the HEAL strategy) and the OCDPA should take in order to move the HEAL strategy forward at the system level. [...] The Forum discussions were based on findings from Key Informant interviews - recommendations on how to strengthen a system to move the HEAL strategy forward (based on the success of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy), the priorities for action for the system and the various organizations’ roles in moving the HEAL strategy forward at the system level.
