Geographical distribution of adult literacy skills in Canada based on local area estimates : Répartition géographique des compétences en littératie des adultes au Canada selon les estimations locales

9 May 2007

The aim of this report is to provide maps of adult literacy skills for each of the provinces and territories in Canada and for its three largest cities. The data for the project come from the 2003 International Adult Literacy and Skills Survey (IALSS) conducted by Statistics Canada and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the 2001 Canadian Census. The project uses a mapping technique developed by the Canadian Research Institute for Social Policy over the past two years.
