[...] This was the most substantial job loss seen since 19826, causing the unemployment rate to rise to record highs – over 9% in the fall of 2016, the highest seen in the province in more than 20 years7. [...] The Labour Force and Increasing Impact of Technology Across the Alberta Economy While there are some sectors of the economy that are expected to see lower than average growth in the coming years21, overall, employment driven by high-growth sectors will see substantial gain in Alberta.
