The CCA’s Board of Directors, Scientific Advisory Committee, and the three founding Academies — the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences — provided key guidance and oversight during the assessment process. [...] The Charge to the Panel Environment and Climate Change Canada (the Sponsor) asked the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) to conduct an evidence-based assessment to answer the following question: What are the potential opportunities and challenges for a circular economy in Canada? xvi | Council of Canadian Academies To address the charge, the CCA assembled a multidisciplinary Panel of 16 experts f. [...] To assess Canada’s progress towards the CE, more and better data are needed to measure the baseline circularity of the economy and track the effectiveness of policies and programs. [...] These data are important for measuring the circularity of the Canadian economy, for setting priorities based on the estimates of the effects of various measures on circularity, for estimating the implications of changes such as a move to net-zero emissions for the circularity of the Canadian economy, and for comparing Canada’s transition towards a CE with progress in other countries.
