Canada’s Cleantech Investment Landscape: A n a l y s

Some of the changes include dramatic improvements in the energy efficiency of products, including the processes to make them; shifting to renewable and recyclable materials; increasing transportation efficiency and the adoption of electric vehicles; and running commercial buildings and corporate facilities using clean energy sources. [...] In phase I of the project, we used quantitative methods to establish an overview of the population of cleantech companies in Canada and key investment trends in the sector. [...] However, the considerable barriers to expanding investment include the risk profile of hard tech companies, the lengthy timelines for commercialization, and the relatively small size of the cleantech funds in Canada, which constrains the ability to finance CAPEX-intensive companies. [...] Key Findings and Recommendations from the Executive Interviews One of the overarching goals of the study was to solicit input and recommendations from key stakeholders on how to enhance the overall commercial success of the cleantech sector.
