Whole-of-Government Wellbeing Approaches: A Comparative Analysis of Four central Government Initiatives

10 Aug 2022

Well-being approaches are innovative initiatives to include well-being (or quality of life) goals and indicators in public policy-making and budget allocation processes. In an effort to inform decision-making around these approaches, the National Collaborating Center for Healthy Public Policy (NCCHPP) has produced a comparative analysis of four wellness approaches put forward by the governments of Scotland, Finland, New Zealand and Wales. This analysis revealed similarities and differences in terms of reference; the objectives pursued; implementation, evaluation and accountability mechanisms; the roles of the different actors; the difficulties related to the implementation and possible solutions to overcome them.
