This TOPO presents the process of mobilization and intersectoral collaboration required to establish a food cooperative in rural communities, geographically isolated and qualified as food desert. It also identifies the factors facilitating its progress as well as the difficulties that could be encountered and proposes courses of action to support the opening of food cooperatives in Quebec. This knowledge will be useful for public health actors and other sectors of society wishing to support a process of improving physical access to food through the establishment of a food cooperative.
