Denis Prud’homme President and Vice-Chancellor, Université de Moncton Chair of the Board of Directors, CIRLM 6 MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The achievements of the year 2022–2023 have once again demonstrated the importance and relevance of research on linguistic minorities in Canada. [...] As evidence of this, one need only look at the following: the ongoing review of the Official Languages Act, consultations for the next Action Plan for Official Languages, the updating of language data published by Statistics Canada with the 2021 census, new data on children eligible for minority language education, and the development of the postcensal survey on the official language minority popu. [...] As Rodrigue Landry, the first director of the CIRLM, pointed out at the time of our institute’s creation: “The Institute will act as a hub for information on research opportunities and needs, and will facilitate networking and the pooling of resources to better ensure the development of research on linguistic minorities. [...] In the spring of 2022, and as one of its initiatives to mark the 20th anniversary of the CIRLM, the Institute held a meeting with representatives of member organizations of the Forum des leaders de la Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada (FCFA), in which a QUESCREN representative also participated. [...] The project aims to strengthen the potential for research collaboration between Quebec, Acadie and the Canadian Francophonie by taking stock of the current state of research on the Canadian Francophonie, and then focusing on the challenges of collaboration between the stakeholders involved in scientific production.
