University of Toronto Social Economy Centre

The former Social Economy Centre (SEC) is one of the two research centres that merged in 2014 to form CLSEW. Established in 2005 by Dr. Jack Quarter and Dr. Laurie Mook, the SEC promoted and disseminated multidisciplinary research and policy analysis on issues affecting the social economy. A central feature of the SEC was to create a bridge between the university and other community organizations, particularly nonprofits and co-operatives. Since its inception, the SEC has housed many major research initiatives.
