Effect of Land Administration on allocative efficiency of Rice Farmers Under Public and Private Authorities in Dadinkowa Irrigation Area in North-Eastern

It was recommended that land administration system should clearly state rights related to the use of government lands and allow land transactions such as the sale of rights of occupancy, the transfer of leasehold rights or rent among farmers so as to strengthen the land markets and improve the efficient use of land. [...] This study therefore examined: (1) the existing land administration processes and land exchange approaches in the study area, (2) the relative performance of land administration under the different land authorities, (3) the allocative efficiency of rice farmers under different land administration authorities, and (4) the effects of land administration and other factors on allocative efficiency of. [...] Results and Discussion 4.1 Description of land administration processes in the study area The result of the descriptive analysis in table 2showed that rice farmers in public administered land area acquired land mainly through government allocation as in the case of DKIS, VEGFRU and NIHORT/CoH (59.8, 82.3, and 77.1% respectively). [...] This implies that based on farmers’ perception of the performance of land administration factors in the study area, the land administration service is efficient, but there is 33% potential for improved efficiency of land administration process in the study area. [...] It is recommended that land policy should clearly state rights related to the use of government lands and allow land transactions such as the sale of rights of occupancy, the transfer of leasehold rights or rent among farmers so as to strengthen the land markets and improve the efficient use of agricultural land.
