FINAL REPORT - More Than A Footnote policy forum

21 Dec 2023

This policy forum, hosted by DAWN with our incredible partners from the University of Guelph’s Live Work Well Research Centre and Global Affairs Canada, stands as an example of the power of doing things differently – of taking off our hats and tipping them in one direction to the women and gender-diverse people with disabilities and Deaf women who will continue to lead the change. [...] The goal of the project is to uncover, co-create and mobilize knowledge about diverse women and girls with disabilities, and to influence the development of policies that are critical to removing barriers and creating the conditions necessary for inclusion and participation. [...] We need to work together (government, civil society, academia) and we need to continue working to educate ourselves and others about the needs and priorities of women and girls with disabilities. [...] We MIND the gap! 22 Reflections: Deborah Stienstra EDID-GHDI One of the goals of the EDID-GHDI partnership is to build relationships and share knowledge between government, civil society and researchers around the experiences of women and girls with disabilities. [...] The hosts of the Forum – Bonnie Brayton (DAWN Canada), Ruvimbo Chidziva (Global Affairs Canada) and Deborah Stienstra (EDID-GHDI) – would readily admit to enjoying the collaboration and contribution to the planning of our two BIG days and to this report.
