2SLGBTQ HEALTH IN FOCUS EPISODE 1: THE CURRENT STATE OF 2SLGBTQ MEDICAL EDUCATION

12 Feb 2024

With gratitude and respect, we acknowledge that we have recorded this podcast on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. [...] We need to better understand the health inequities that have brought them to our office while integrating the medical expertise that we have, the ability to understand the patterns that we're seeing and associating them with the social determinants of health that have actually brought them in. [...] And I knew that if I had graduated residency, not done the program that I could then slowly learn and attend workshops and connect with people and gain a few patients over time, and I would be able to gain the skills. [...] I'm also a lecturer in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at University of Toronto, a course director, and I am also a facilitator and teacher with Rainbow Health Ontario and CAMH or the Centre of Addictions and Mental Health in Toronto. [...] I'm very fortunate to have the support of the dean of the medical school, really backing it up and promoting it and really seeing that we have the resources we need to actually get it off the ground.
