The current report summarizes the impact of the FFS as of the fall of 2009 in terms of participation in FFS activities, academic performance and retention in college programs. [...] Students assigned to the Control group had normal access to regular services available to all students in the participating colleges, but did not have access to a case manager, the Foundations for Success-designed career clarification workshops, or the financial fellowship described for students in the Service Plus group. [...] Description of the Support Services/Interventions The types of activities completed by students in Foundations for Success depended on the risk profile of each student, as determined during the recruitment phase by means of an assessment of reading and writing skills using Accuplacer® and the completion of a FastTrack™survey.6. [...] A student reporting a lack of confidence in their ability to make friends in new situations when completing the FastTrack survey was assigned a peer mentor and was expected to meet with the peer mentor for at least one hour during Semester 1. Finally, recognizing that some of the interventions to which students were directed in their first semester might not be applicable in the second and subsequ [...] The results indicated that when differences in the level of participation were controlled for in the analysis, students in the Service Plus group did not show statistically significant differences in the primary outcomes of interest.
