[...] C. Recommendations The Committee would like to commend the department and other stakeholders for the success of the initial special measure for Haitians and Zimbabweans now subject to 20. [...] However, one witness advised the Committee that he had spent $16,000 on multiple immigration applications.24 The Committee finds that the fees are high, especially considering that many of the Haitians resident in Canada and affected by the lifting of the temporary suspension of removals came here in the aftermath of an earthquake. [...] To assist committee members to better understand the situation for the effected Haitians and Zimbabweans nationals, I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to the witnesses who were able to attend and present to the committee on this important subject as well as those who came to observe the proceedings but were not able to secure a witness spot.
