[...] In 2007-2008, the YHS implementation was accelerated by a letter of support from the Manitoba Minister of Education, Citizenship and Youth along with the Minister of Healthy Living/Chair of the Healthy Child Committee of Cabinet in order to work with the regional health authorities in obtaining youth data to provide a baseline for evaluating the new Grades 11 and 12 Active Healthy Lifestyles: Ph [...] SWS/KE is implemented through a working collaboration between the Department of Wellness, Culture, and Sport, the Department of Education, and the Health and Education Research Group (HERG) at the University of New Brunswick, spanning the years from 2006 to present. [...] The intent of the student wellness and knowledge exchange activities at local, regional and provincial levels is to help achieve the following purposes of the SWS/KE Initiative: To monitor the healthy lifestyle behaviours of New Brunswick students with respect to healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco-free living, and mental fitness. [...] In 2010 and 2011, a working collaboration with the Department of Wellness, Culture, and Sport; the Department of Education; and the Health and Education Research Group was created to facilitate the implementation of cycle two for the elementary surveillance initiative.
