Over the years this unsustainable cut has lead to the inevitable depletion of the resource and has resulted in industry looking to the economically marginal forests of northern boreal forests. [...] The terrain in the upper study area is the glaciated U-shaped valley bottom framed between the rugged mountains and extensive alpine habitats of the Selwyn Mountains Ecoregion. [...] This reach contains the majority of accessible upland forest in the lower Hyland valley and includes a portion of the Hyland block of the Kaska Forest Resources Timber Harvest Area. [...] Often, concepts of biodiversity are misinterpreted with the rationale that the greater the biodiversity, the better/healthier/more valuable the ecosystem.
