In that spirit, the Government of Alberta is committing to this 10-year strategic plan, which will bring stability to Alberta’s public finances and secure a future for our province that is successful, strong and free. [...] It’s time to commit to a sensible and disciplined strategic plan that reflects Albertans’ best selves and is worthy of the trust we place in government to manage our tax dollars and our province. [...] They appreciate the hard work of teachers, nurses, doctors and other professionals in the public sector, and want to be assured that the front line services delivered by these professionals are reliable and durable. [...] To achieve this, the Government of Alberta will work over the next three years to hold the line on costs, and bring Alberta’s spending on public services into line with the Canadian average. [...] Through these efforts, the Government of Alberta and the public sector will have the ability to reach agreements that recognize Alberta’s new fiscal realities, are affordable to taxpayers, and are fair and competitive for teachers, nurses, physicians and other public sector workers.
