The assessment identifies key strengths, weaknesses and gaps in the country’s mining laws and policies (compared to the international best practices outlined in the MPF) which helps measure the readiness of the member state to implement the MPF through its existing government measures. [...] It is bordered by Mauritania to the north, Mali to the east, and Guinea-Conakry and Guinea-Bissau to the south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.
