Instruments measuring quality of life for older adults with dementia

Of these, six instruments (Alzheimer Disease Related Quality of Life, Dementia Care Mapping, Observing Quality of Life in Dementia, Bath Assessment of Subjective Quality of Life in Dementia, Dementia Quality of Life Instrument, and Quality of Life – Alzheimer’s Disease) have reported data on reliability, validity, and responsiveness from index papers or reviews. [...] We analyzed and summarized the characteristics of the index papers for the dementia-specific QoL instruments according to: - Population characteristics – applicability of the instrument with respect to the stages of dementia and places of residence of older adults (community living (home) or facility (LTC)) - Whether conceptual frameworks for QoL were used in developing the instrument - Whether me [...] The majority of the reviews aimed to identify valid and reliable QoL instruments for older adults with dementia, with the purpose of using the instruments in clinical practice, research studies, and/or clinical drug trials.
