Although many mature workers choose to remain engaged in the workforce in Alberta, there is still potential to increase participation rates and the valuable contribution that mature workers make to the workforce and the Alberta economy. [...] According to the Conference Board of Canada: … Research indicates that the imminent retirement of the baby-boom generation heralds profound change in the composition and structure of our national labour force and that by 2015 not enough qualified people will be available to fill all of the positions vacated by departing mature employees. [...] Workplace Practices Goal 1 – Engage Employers There is a shared understanding of the value of mature workers in the workplace and in increasing mature workers’ participation in the labour force.
