If either or both of you has a workplace pension that you began contributing to before you got married and if you each continued making contributions to it throughout your marriage, upon separation you would have to share the value of the amount of the pension that built up between the date of marriage and the date of separation. [...] The responsibility to support a child who is over 18 will depend on things like the relationship the child has with the payer and the financial situation of both the child and the payer. [...] Who can stay in the home after separation? If the deed or lease to the home that you and your ex common-law partner live in is in your ex-partner’s name only and if your ex won’t allow you to remain in the home, you may be able to get a court order giving you permission to live there if you can establish strong reasons for this. [...] The responsibility to support a child who is over 18 will depend on things like the relationship the child has with the payer and the financial situation of both the child and the payer. [...] Exceptions to child support being paid include situations of extreme domestic violence, where the survivor can establish that there is a substantial risk to their safety or the safety of the children if they were to pursue support and situations where the primary parent has more than adequate means to support the children and the payer is impoverished.
