[...] Survey design and methodology The Canadian Addiction Survey consisted of over 400 questionnaire items pertaining to the use of alcohol and illicit drugs, life harm associated with such use and the level of risk demonstrated by such use, and items tapping public opinion, attitudes and knowledge about alcohol and illicit drugs. [...] Nevertheless, since one of the objectives of the CAS is to generate estimates of the prevalence of substance use and abuse for Canada as a whole, the relatively small size of these excluded populations should have minimal effect on the reliability of estimates for the broader population.
