Casebook on use of intervention evidence in health promotion and chronic disease prevention : Recueil de cas concernant l'utilisation de données probantes sur les interventions en promotion de la santé et en prévention des maladies chroniques

The Casebook objectives are to • Increase awareness and understanding of the value of acquiring and applying evidence; • Highlight different strategies and approaches for the acquisition and application of evidence to practice, program and policy decision-making in health promotion/chronic disease prevention; • Demonstrate the impact of using evidence on health promotion and chronic disease preven [...] A special tool is used to assess the applicability and transferability of the research to the local context, and the evidence is then summarized in a 1:2:20 report. [...] To address this issue, the international Innovation to reduce cardiovascular complications of diabetes at the intersection of discovery, prevention and knowledge exchange: ARTEMIS study was developed with the overall objective to determine the scientific basis for the effectiveness of lifestyle modification strategies, and the feasibility, utility and fidelity of technology-based self-monitoring a [...] During the workshop, the research team shared the results of the community consultations and explored collaborative ways to support the research participants as well as the population as a whole. [...] Our hope is to pilot a “family-based” HealtheSteps program within the Goderich YMCA within the near future and we are examining the possibility of implementing the program within the business sector, as the Goderich municipality has expressed interest in offering the program to its employees.
