As is common in First Nations’ economic development, the creation of the EDC allowed for the formation of a limited partnership, with the EDC as the general or operating partner and the First Nation as the limited partner providing the resources. [...] Elders from the First Nation emphasized the importance of the land for healing and education, calling it a historic site and expressing pride and happiness in the purchase. [...] The vision of MGBHLM Home Builders is to help alleviate the housing needs of the First Nation’s members and to contribute to the economy and capacity building (e.g., training people for work in the construction trades).
