Dubois: RE: FIRST NATIONS CHILD AND FAMILY CARING SOCIETY OF CANADA ET AL V ATTORNEY GENERAL OF CANADA – T#1340/7008 OUR MATTER ID: 5204-002 I write further to the Panel’s direction of April 12, 2024, to request a modification to the schedule contained in that direction to maximize the chances of the hearing proceeding in July or August 2024. [...] The schedule in the Panel’s direction of today’s date contemplates the filing of three factums each by the Caring Society and Canada. [...] The Caring Society proposes that the filing schedule be streamlined by having the Caring Society address both the motion and the cross-motion in its April 19, 2024 factum (which is already our intention), and by having Canada address both the motion and the cross-motion in its May 24, 2024 factum (which is the typical route followed when two matters are being heard together, for instance with resp. [...] For clarity, the proposal is to consolidate the Caring Society’s June 7 and 28, 2024 deadlines and Canada’s May 24, 2024 and June 7, 2024 deadlines, with the remaining steps after Canada’s May 24 factum following the same time delays provided for in the Tribunal’s direction. [...] As noted above, the Caring Society is providing this schedule without having circulated to parties other than Canada given the timeframe involved and in order to minimize any inconvenience to the Panel.
