The main focus of the recycling industry includes PET, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP), and the locations of the recycling facilities are predominantly in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, where the plastic waste feedstock is more accessible (ECCC 2019a). [...] The next large sector, construction (26% of the total plastics entered the market), was responsible for only 5% of plastic waste in products discarded in Canada in the same year. [...] All of them agree that the circular economy is an alternative to the linear economy based on the principle of “take-make-use-waste,” or the economy of production and consumption.
