The pursuit and advancement of the principle of intergenerational solidarity would ensure that the rights of people of all ages are protected and promoted at all times to secure a life of dignity across the broad diversity of the world’s population. [...] Malnutrition among older persons is associated with both short term and long term negative health outcomes.11 The estimates of older adults experiencing malnutrition available from the USA and UK range from 1 in 10 to 1 in 6, and the surveys that exist in LICs and MICs also point to systemic hunger and malnutrition in older age.
