[...] Alona leverages the connections between computer representations of meaning and those found in the human brain in order to advance our understanding of the brain, and the state of the art in machine learning. [...] She works on the following projects: Science in the Age of AI (exploring how AI is changing the nature and method of scientific research) and The online Information Environment (exploring how the internet and data-driven technologies affects the production of disinformation). [...] Turkel is a member of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada (2018-25) and a recipient of the Wolfram Innovator Award (2020).
