This past year the Accessible Canada Act was passed into law and the civil society continued the review of Canada’s adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its role in the implementation. [...] This legislation will help improve the lives of millions of Canadians with disabilities by proactively identifying, removing and preventing barriers to inclusion.” IL Canada participated in civil society’s review of the progress made by the Government of Canada in meeting its commitments for all the articles it agreed to in its ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabi. [...] IL Canada’s approach has been to inform and educate partnering organizations about the value of independent living, as well as the need to remain united as an holistic group in support of the Accessible Canada Act and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). [...] Use of estimates The preparation of financial statements requires management to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets and liabilities and disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities at the date of the financial statements, and the reported amounts of income and expenditures during the reporting period. [...] The Association's accounting records as well as those of member institutions subcontracted to execute the projects, are subject to audit by the government to identify instances, if any, in which the amounts charged to projects have not complied with the terms and conditions, and which, therefore, would be refundable to the funding agency.
