[...] Meanwhile, the role of Canadian exploration companies has expanded within the local oil and gas industry on the African continent, specifically in Tunisia and Libya, which have seen a combined increase of 50 per cent in the Canadian share of total production of oil, NGL and natural gas in 2012. [...] To establish the extent of the international presence of Canadian E&P companies around the globe, Table 5 records the number of active country operations for the top three ranking companies in 2012, as well as their level of operations in 2011. [...] The contribution of Canadian exploration activities to total production levels of oil, NGL and natural gas has increased on the African continent, an indication of the growing importance of Canadian companies in the region.
