The Department of Citizenship and Immigration also applies the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act when determining the admissibility of temporary and permanent residents to Canada; the Department of Citizenship and Immigration conducts the initial screening as part of the visa assessment process to determine if there are reasonable grounds to believe that the applicant has committed or was com. [...] In response to The Deschênes Commission’s report, the Government of Canada established specialized war crimes sections within the Department of Justice, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Department of Citizenship and Immigration in order to implement the recommendations outlined in the report. [...] The International Assistance Group at the Department of Justice is delegated to act on behalf of the Minister of Justice in all matters under the Extradition Act, with the exception of the decision on surrender. [...] At the request of the government of Senegal, a counsel was seconded to the Office of the Prosecutor of the Extraordinary African Chambers for Chad to help set up that office and initiate the prosecution of former President Hissene Habre of Chad and others.
