The most efficient use of the province’s produces similar levels of pollution to that of coal biomass resources is for heating and combined heat and when burned. [...] A problem, however, that may year of biomass if used only for winter peaking and arise from excessive harvesting of biomass off the 1.5 to 2.2 million tonnes/year to run the plant at full forest floor is soil erosion and the forest’s ability to capacity, according to one industry expert. [...] The Drax power at Belledune would increase tractor-trailer traffic to station uses four of its six generators to burn wood transport the fuels to the plant whereas coal is arriving pellets from the United States and Canada. [...] The policy, known potential harm to New Brunswick forests, there is a as the Crown Land Forest Biomass Policy, restricts significant opportunity cost to converting Belledune biomass harvesting to the above-ground portion to a biomass generating facility. [...] The resource input and the S et a minimum standard for efficient use of energy loss when converted to electricity rather biomass of at least 60 per cent, favouring heating than producing heat is too significant to be a viable and combined heat and power over electricity alternative to fossil fuels.
