It is also worth noting that the 2017 Gender Impact As- sessment on the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine iden- tified the following barriers to gender equality and security and defense reform:2 Á a lack of recognition of the relevance of gender equality, in relation to security and defense sector reform; Á low levels of coordination and integration of gender equality within security and defe.
