The purposes of the bylaw are to: (a) provide for the regulation and use of the City’s sanitary sewer system; (b) regulate all direct and indirect discharges to any part of the sanitary sewer; (c) prevent damage to or misuse of the sanitary sewer system and its processes; (d) levy sanitary sewer service charges for services provided, including setting rates, fees and charges for various types of permits and uses; (e) set conditions required for connection to the sanitary sewer system; (f) protect human health and safety; (g) assist the City in complying with laws and regulatory instruments to which it is subject; and (h) protect the environment.
