Interest in all levels of politics tends to be higher in Halifax RM and in Antigonish-Guysborough, and lowest in Cumberland and Southwest Nova. [...] 13 14 Overview on Methods The survey phase of the Nova Scotia Quality of Life Initiative was launched in the spring of 2019 with two principal approaches to encourage residents of the province to participate. [...] Weighting of data In order to ensure the results from the survey are representative of the residents of Nova Scotia, the data provided by the 12,826 respondents were weighted by sex, age grouping, and region to match the Census profile estimated for 2019 for those residents 16 years of age and 15 older (N = 787,120). [...] Just under 60% of the total respondents to the survey were women, so following weighting, the numbers adjusted to better reflect the actual distribution of men and women in the province and in each region. [...] The percentage of responses from other regions in the province more closely approximated their populations so weighting slightly adjusted the distributions accordingly, again to ensure that the results more accurately the voices of the residents of Nova Scotia regardless of where they live.
