The Correctional Service of Canada is well represented with submissions addressing such issues as: women offenders; a residential mental health initiative: the use of technology to efficiently share offender related information: the seamless and safe transition of the offender from the institution to the community; best practices in restorative justice; and, the involvement of the community in cor. [...] In addition, the Mission Statement of the Service provides a unifying vision for the organization: The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to the protection of society by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control. [...] The CI must also submit an annual report to the Solicitor General describing the activities of the office during the year within three months of the end of the fiscal year. [...] The focus of risk to the public and the needs of the offender are a cornerstone of the classification system in all provinces. [...] The Mission of the Correctional Service of Canada as mentioned earlier, states: The Correctional Service of Canada, as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to the protection of society by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law- abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
