National Plan for Advancing Environmental-Economic Accounting 2015 -- Mauritius --

24 Jan 2017

One of the major opportunities for action to make possible the transition of Mauritius to a green and ocean economy is to build resilience and increase the adaptive capacity of the country. [...] This provides the context and rationale for the NP-AEEA, the high-level needs of Mauritius based on the assessment report and finally a summary of the key outcomes that could be achieved for Mauritius by implementing the NP-AEEA. [...] Also in 2013, the UN published the Guidelines on Integrated Economic Statistics5 highlighting the need to move from the traditional silo approach to a more integrated approach to the production of statistics matched by the reform of the institutional arrangements, including access and use of administrative sources for statistical purposes. [...] It recognised the significance of an integrated approach for increasing the consistency and coherence of economic statistics to enhance the quality and analytical value of the information the statistics convey for short- term, annual and benchmark economic and macroeconomic statistics. [...] The focus of the work is the production of pilot accounts, with a view to establishing the technical processes for the regular production and use of accounts within government.
