Professional Development Programs and Services Guide 7 INDIGENOUS EDUCATION AND WALKING TOGETHER Indigenous Education and Walking Together: Education for Reconciliation DEVELOPING AND APPLYING FIRST NATIONS, MÉTIS AND INUIT FOUNDATIONAL KNOWLEDGE In 2016, the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA)—along with representatives of the Government of Alberta, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliatio. [...] As part of its commitment to the JCTA and the TRC Calls to Action, the ATA implemented the Walking Together: Education for Reconciliation professional learning project to support Alberta’s teachers and school leaders in meeting the competency for developing and applying First Nations, Métis and Inuit foundational knowledge.
