Hydrogeological Investigation 855 & 927 Victoria Road South, Kortright East Subdivision,

8 Mar 2023

Victoria Street South bounds the Site to the northeast, with MacAlister Boulevard bounding the Site to the southeast, Torrance Creek Swamp to the southwest, and a combination of open space and disturbed area to the northwest. [...] Stantec placed most of the boreholes along the western border of the Site to meet the objective of identifying groundwater levels near the buffer areas of the Torrance Creek Swamp and the proposed trail route. [...] For the period spanning from October 2022 to February 2023, groundwater was encountered in the subsurface between the southern limits of the Site to the central portions of the property (i.e., recorded in MW3-17, MW4-17, MW105-22(S/D), MW106-22, MW107-22, MW108-22(S/D), and MW109-22), with monitoring wells constructed from the central to northern limits of the Site being consistently dry over this. [...] With 2,509 m3 of the 6,266 m3 of surplus runoff generated from the Site being directed to the Torrance Creek Swamp post-development, the remaining 3,757 m3 of runoff will be directed to the SWMF and released to the allowable outlet rate prescribed in the Torrance Creek Subwatershed Study (Totten Sims Hubicki Associates et al., 1998), before discharging directly to the Arboretum Woods Tributary.
