Edition 20, August 2023 Recognizing two years of Afghan refugees in Canada August 19th, 2023 marks the second anniversary of the first arrival of Afghan refugees to Canada since the fall of Kabul. [...] The Taliban’s regime has had devastating consequences for the people of Afghanistan, including the displacement of over 5 million Afghans from their homes and the disenfranchisement of women from education, employment, and politics. [...] In addition to the special immigration measures, Afghans can enter through regular programs, new programs have been expanded such as the Provincial and Federal Economic Mobilities Pathways Pilot programs, which offer a unique pathway for refugees with skills and experience important to BC’s economy.  Arrival is only the first step in a long process for refugees, who must build new lives in an unfa.
