[...] In short, the mass movement and relocation of a highly skilled workforce has consequences for both the country of origin of the recruited nurses and the host community (both professional and lay). [...] The City of Edmonton has a Diversity and Inclusion Framework and Implementation plan18, with the goals to a) develop a workforce that is broadly reflective of the community, b) identify and address barriers within organizational systems, and c) attract and retain a talented workforce skilled at working in an inclusive and respectful manner with one another and with the community. [...] In order to establish the rigour and scientific value of the research in this study, the work conducted was considered in light of the framework for assessing the quality of qualitative research postulated by Guba and Lincoln34 that is: confirmability, dependability, transferability and credibility. [...] The credibility of the findings was enhanced by validation of the data from the IEN interviews with those from the key stakeholders.
