[...] On the other hand, the boundaries of the field are apt to shift depending on how social economy is defined, the particular situation, the networks and groups that are created, the institutional environment, the market, etc. [...] Now the public authorities, as well as the key players in the system, have formulated requests to both measure the sector and evaluate the contribution of the social economy. [...] In delineating the field of the social economy, the database must take into account the diversity of organizations that make up the sector, and describe the characteristics of these in such a way that they can be grouped according to different definitions of social economy.
